The U14 Saints girls team fought their way up from Pool E in the OBL all the way to Pool C. Illness and injuries made for some mixed results toward the season's end, but the girls went into OBAs with the #4 seed in Division 2. After taking care of the #8 seed on Friday, the girls battled HARD to take down the #5 seed Sisters Keeper, who had just stolen a game from the Saints in their last OBL meeting. That set the girls up to earn their way into a Gold medal game against a very big #1 seeded Guelph team, who the girls had lost to over the last 2 OBAs. The Saints played from behind for almost the entire game before pulling away late and making clutch free throws to take the win 41-31. The Gold game was much the same. While both teams struggled offensively, #2 Transway's length had them leading for the better part of the game. But the girls were NOT going to accept defeat and turned up the defensive pressure to go on a late run to take the gold medal 39-34! A real storybook ending to their grade school careers! Congrats girls! Your coaches are very proud of your efforts!
